With Mediterranean Revival towers, it was built in 1926 to give autos access to anastasia Island. It replaced a wooden bridge. The bridge is named for the two lions at the west end of the bridge. The statues were done by sculptor Romanelli of Florence, Italy and donated by Dr. Andrew Anderson.The lions were made to resemble the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence Italy.
